First Show of the Season

Well it was an absolutely amazing show in Wolfville this past weekend at Acadia. It was my first time at that show and I met some pretty talented folks, made some new crafty friends and got some of my first Christmas shopping done all in the same place! Just thought I should introduce you to some of the fantastic places I got some one of a kind pieces for my family gifts:

-The Rock Maple Toy Company - Dan is a toy maker, his work is amazing and we (well our son Taylor) will be the lucky owner of a beautiful wooden bulldozer this Christmas morning. But it was a hard decision, he has planes, trains, cars, jeeps, wooden puzzles, rattles and all sorts of fun things.

-Earth Art Cashmere and Design - Christina and her family run a farm in Pictou County where they raise cashmere goats, and then produce gorgeous finished pieces (and oh so soft!) I am highly coveting a pair of their mittens!

-Art by Amanda Muis - Amanda makes the most beautiful, natural art pieces. Everything you would want around you in your home. Her booth was like stepping back into an old fashioned Christmas. I wanted to live there. All natural wreaths of holly, pines, spruce, berries and even some lovely handmade stockings. And the smell just makes you wish for Christmas time. I came home with a wreath that I can't wait to put on our new home (Closing date: December 14! More on this soon!)

-Green Grass Toys - Melanie and her family were just lovely people. It was great to meet them. An array of all things fun! My favorites were her wool felted baby balls, little wooden cars, and bunting banners. All of it adorable! We had some great conversation, and I even came home with a bag of fabric scraps that I'm sure will be put to good use! This made me start thinking of doing fabric scrap swaps with folks, I think I'll look into that!

So this is just a sampling of the great work I found this weekend, but it was an endless sea of amazing finds and people. I was so glad to be a part of it! And also have to give a shout out to my husband who helped with set up and selling the entire weekend, couldn't have done it without him! And to my Mama who took in our baby for the time we were away - Thank you! Taylor misses his Nana already!

  1. Glad you did well. I was so close to doing it, but was feeling a little overwhelmed. Next year.
